Johannesburg - The SA Post Office has appointed Mlungisi Mathonsi as its chief operating officer, it announced on Wednesday.

“Mr Mathonsi is a welcome addition to the executive leadership of the SA Post Office as he brings with him a wealth of invaluable industry experience. We are certainly positive about his contribution in our journey of building the company into a world class enabler of the economy,” he said.

Mathonsi's appointment was with effect from July 1.

He also became a board member of the SA Post Office Group and its subsidiaries.

His role would include leading the SA Post Office's day-to-day operations, and his areas of responsibility include mail business, properties, retail and post office logistics.

Prior to joining the SA Post Office, Mathonsi served in various industry leadership roles, including being a director at Coca-Cola Southern Africa, a managing director at Coca-Cola Shanduka Beverages, and similar roles at Nampak and Bromor Foods. - Sapa
