A British business process outsourcing (BPO) firm has set up business in Cape Town, adding to the city’s growing BPO industry. Radiant Law, a leading UK law firm, began trading last month and offers high quality legal advice on technology, outsourcing and commercial contracts as a managed legal service. The practice resides under legal process outsourcing, which is a specialised sector within the BPO industry, according to Alan Winde, the Western Cape MEC for Finance, Economic Development and Tourism. Yesterday Winde said the sector employed 40 000 people and was worth R8 billion. “By 2016, it’s expected the sector will employ 65 303 people. “There are significant opportunities to grow the Western Cape’s market share in niche segments of BPO, such as legal process outsourcing,” he said. Justin Cornish, the new head of Radiant Law in Cape Town, said that the firm chose the city to start up because of “the exceptional quality of the personnel available here”. – Asha Speckman
