DURBAN - South African Airways has launched an employee app to promote communication and access to information.
The app will allow staff to interact with the CEO of the airline Vuyani Jarana and management in a direct and secure manner.
The SAA app can be downloaded on mobile devices including company-issued devices and the personal devices of employees who have access to computers only.
Tlali Tlali the spokesperson for SAA said, "We are pleased that the App has been launched and this will serve as one of the many communication platforms we have at SAA to enable all employees to have more access to management and information in real time".
He added that the intention is to allow for communication through as many channels as possible for employees to use what is convenient to them.
According to the SAA spokesperson, they were astounded by claims that the airline has taken steps to stop their employees from accessing negative stories about SAA using the company's equipment (company-issued mobile devices and computers).
Now SAA staff has access to news sites at all times as well as social media. Social media can only be accessed outside of the main working hours with many exceptions where this is required to fulfil daily roles and requirements.
The app which has already been made available to SAA employees was developed by a third party at no cost to the airline.
Tlali spoke about the app was launched. He said, "This will enhance our internal communication efficiencies and brings unique capabilities as a tool to existing communication platforms".
