Sekunjalo Investments executive chairman Dr Iqbal Survé has handed over the baton to Sekunjalo’s newly appointed non-executive chairman Professor Vukile Mehana.

Survé announced yesterday that he is retiring as executive chairman.

Survé founded Sekunjalo Investments and has led it since inception in 1997 – first as chief executive and later as executive chairman.

“I am confident that as I retire as executive chairman, that the business has a great future, a strong investment portfolio and is left in the hands of a highly distinguished board of directors and capable management team led by chief executive Khalid Abdulla,” said Survé in a statement.

He said his move was “an indication of my confidence in the leadership and management teams to grow the business even further”.

Mehana has served as a non-executive director of Sekunjalo for seven years.

The board has also created the position of non-executive deputy chairman, which will be filled by Salim Young, a long-standing board member. – Staff reporter
