DURBAN - South African electricity utility Eskom has suspended their Executive for the Group Capital Division Abram Masango pending an investigation into allegations of impropriety. 

The suspension of Masango is with immediate effect and it was announced by Eskom through a media statement. 

The allegations of impropriety against Masango relate to the Kusile Power Station build project. 

In the media statement, the electricity utility said that the recognise Masango's rights to be presumed innocent but due to the seriousness of the allegations against him and the seniority of his position, the management of Eskom decided to suspend him pending the result of an investigation. 

According to Eskom, their board and management are committed to investigation all the allegations of impropriety involving them.
