CAPE TOWN - The City of Tshwane has discovered a notice circulating through social media about a fake job vacancy for a receptionist in the metropolitan municipality.

The Vacancy published on many platforms said the following:

"Invitation to an interview

Dear applicant,

we would like to invite you to an interview.

Position: Receptionist

Venue: CITY OF TSHWANE METROPOLITAN MUNICIPALITY

Date:18/05/2018

TIME:10:30

NB: Please contact your HR co-ordinator MR MOSHWANE at 0633111415 to confirm your bookings today not later than today.

Kind regards

City Of Tshwane Metropolitan HR department"

Additionally,  The message further stated that the individuals are required to provide an identity document and a certified copy of a matric certificate.

"The notice (message) is devoid of any truth as the City only advertises vacant posts in newspapers and the Job Forum page which is on our website: www.tshwane.gov.za. We urge the public to ignore the message as it is a scam.  We suspect that the aim of the scammers was to con the vulnerable community that is desperate for jobs", said the City of Tshwane.

The City added that whoever is involved in creating the false information will be arrested, charged and prosecuted.

Further, we wish to inform the public to contact Tshwane Metro Police Department.
