The Cape Chamber of Commerce and Industry has appointed Ruben Richards as its first chief executive. It said Richards had qualifications in engineering, sociology, and theology and was a former deputy director-general of the disbanded Scorpions. He served as a consultant for the UN and chief executive of Globe Engineering. Chamber president Janine Myburgh said the organisation was fortunate to have a man of Richards’s talent and experience. Richards said he was excited by the challenge, which was where his focus would lie. “I see an opportunity to make use of the Cape chamber’s deep roots in business to invigorate the economy in the region.” – Sapa
