GALLERY: KZN Business Conversations discussed the province's economy

DURBAN - East Coast Radio hosted the KZN Business Conversations event to discuss the economy of KwaZulu-Natal. 

This event brought together some of the biggest names in business to speak about the ways to enhance the overall economy of KZN. 

Eric Apelgren, the eThekwini Municipality Head of Department for International Governance Relations, pointed out one of the plus points of the KZN economy. 

He said that KZN has a better economy than South Africa which means that the province will have a better chance at getting a loan than the country. 

He also said that KZN should look at green energy calling it a very important business sector. He added that in South Africa political instability has effected the ability of the country to grow.

The CEO of the Durban of Commerce and Industry, Dumile Cele called on the private sector to put their faith and trust in KZN by investing the province. 

According to Cele we should not wait around for foreign direct investment but rather investment in our province. She urged the people at the event to put their money where their mouth is and invest locally. 

Cele made her comments while speaking on a group panel, that included:

Hamish Erskine, the CEO of the Dube TradePort Corporation.

Mark Harris, the CEO of Kagiso Media Limited.

Kim Macilwaine, the Independent Non-Executive Director of AVI Limited.

Nicola Tyler the CEO of the Business Results Group facilitated the panel.
