Multi-million rand lodge development to be built in northern KZN

DURBAN - According to Tourism KwaZulu-Natal, an R86 million lodge development will be built in northern part of the province. 

The Umfolozi Big 5 Lodges will be three different accommodation developments that will serve a variety of consumers in the tourism market. 

Lodge One

The first lodge will be a 46-bed (21 unit) five-star luxury lodge that will be accessible via the recently constructed P700 between Empangeni and Ulundi.

Lodge Two

This will be a 22-bed (11 unit) four-star lodge that will be developed on the banks of the White iMfolozi River next to the iMfolozi Wilderness area. 

Lodge Three

This lodge will be a 16-bed (8 unit) tented lodge. The banks of the Black iMfolozi River is expected to be the location for the lodge.

The surrounding areas of the Umfolozi Big 5 Lodges have amazing tourist attractions to serve the guests at the lodges. 

Those who choose to stay at this tourist attraction can go for a day safari through the wilderness of the Hluhluwe Game Reserve. The starting price for the full day of safari is R1100. 

Another attraction is the 2-hour boat safari that will take tourists for a ride along one of Africa's largest estuaries. The boat ride costs R260. 

For the more adventurous people, there are night safari options available at the nature reserve. On the safari, tourists will have the opportunity to see leopards, buffalos and elephants. The night safari costs R495.
