South Africa's Naspers' Multichoice pay-TV unit has been awarded the country's second mobile TV licence by the communications regulator.

Naspers, which operates mobile TV in Namibia, Kenya and Nigeria, has been given 12 months by the regulator to launch services in South Africa.

The country's first mobile TV licence was awarded to e.tv, which is yet to launch services. Naspers, Africa's biggest media company, was trading 0.29 percent lower at 305 rand at 11:24 SA time, lagging a slightly firmer JSE Top-40 index of blue chips. - Reuters
