DURBAN - The South African PowerBall jackpot is sitting at R110 million for the first time in 18 years.
According to Ithuba, the operator of the National Lottery, this a milestone for the operator as well as the South African lottery industry.
Ithuba said that South Africans, in general, have more reasons to celebrate. Khensani Mabuza, a member of the Executive team said, " This means that as the National Lottery operator, our weekly, 27% contribution to supporting charities goes up".
Mabuza added that the money is going to be used to support the vital needs of disadvantaged South Africans.
The charity funds are facilitated and distributed by the National Lottery Commission.
The R110 million jackpot is the second one for 2018. The first one was in January and saw four people winning the R110 million jackpot.
If the PowerBall jackpot were to roll again on Friday, July 27th then it will take the jackpot to the biggest jackpot in African history.
