Johannesburg - South Africa's manufacturing output fell by 1.5 percent year-on-year in volume terms in April after a revised 1 percent expansion in March, Statistics South Africa said on Tuesday.
On a month-on-month basis, factory production increased by 3.5 percent, but was down 1.8 percent in the three months to April, compared with the previous three months.
Economists polled by Reuters forecast factory output contractions of 5.5 percent year-on-year, and 1.45 percent on a month-on-month basis. - Reuters
