SA February manufacturing output up

Johannesburg - South Africa's manufacturing output rose 1.4 percent year-on-year in volume terms in February after a revised 2.2 percent growth in January, Statistics South Africa said on Thursday.

On a month-on-month basis factory production fell 1.9 percent, but climbed 2.3 percent in the three months to February, compared with the previous three months.

Economists polled by Reuters had expected year-on-year growth of 3 percent for February while factory output was seen edged up by 0.3 percent on a month-on-month basis. - Reuters
