SA records trade surplus in February

Johannesburg - South Africa recorded an unexpected trade surplus of 1.72 billion rand in February after a large 17 billion rand shortfall in January, data from the South African Revenue Service showed on Monday.

Exports in February climbed 7.9 percent to 83.93 billion rand while imports fell 13.2 percent to 82.21 billion rand, it added.

Economists polled by Reuters had forecast a trade shortfall of 3 billion rand for February. - Reuters
