SA's factory output up 2.5% y/y in January

Johannesburg - South Africa's manufacturing output rose 2.5 percent year-on-year in volume terms in January after a revised 2.8 percent in December, Statistics South Africa said on Thursday.

On a month-on-month basis factory production was up 0.5 percent and rose 3.4 percent in the three months to January, compared with the previous three months.

Economists polled by Reuters had expected year-on-year growth of 1.95 percent and 0.2 percent on a month-on-month basis. - Reuters
