JOHANNESBURG - The deputy Minister of Labour iNkosi Patekile Holomisa said yesterday that unemployment was a raging bull that BRICS member states were struggling to tame and called for action beyond the discussions.
Holomisa spoke at the opening of the BRICS labour and employment working group meeting in Ballito yesterday.
The meeting concludes tomorrow and will be trailed by the Labour and Employment Ministers’ meeting scheduled for Thursday and Friday. The meeting was held under the theme
“BRICS in Africa: Developing Countries for Inclusive Growth and Shared Prosperity in the New Industrial Revolution”. It has four thematic areas of discussion, which are enhancing and improving youth employment, decent work and economic growth, women participation, the deepening of co-operation on social dialogue and tripartism, and the previous commitments such as the change driven by technological, globalisation, demographics, social values and the changing of personal expectations of the workforce.
