DURBAN - With the Easter season around the corner people will be flocking to coastal cities like Durban.
According to the MEC of Economic Development and Tourism Sihle Zikalala more than 1 million tourists will be coming to Durban during the festive season and an expected R1 billion will be pumped into the Durban economy.
Tourism statistics show that more than 40000 people came to Durban via air and road in April 2017, the Easter season.
To keep up with these tourists various Durban hot spots have set up events to cater to them. Some of these events include Easter egg hunts and concerts.
Here are some of the Durban attractions that people should consider visiting during the Easter season:
1. uShaka Marine World
Popular Durban water park uShaka Marine World will be hosting an Easter Egg Hunt. The hunt is open to both adults (R138) and children (R186). The hunt will have 100000 marshmallow eggs and 20 golden eggs that contain a platinum pass.
2. Durban Botanical Gardens
The Durban Botanical Gardens will be hosting Eggsplorer Egg Hunt. Eggsplorers will have to solve clues, complete challenges and look for Easter eggs. The fee is R85 for eggsplorers and R60 for spectators.
3. Moses Mabhida Stadium
For Easter Sunday people can head to the Durban stadium to enjoy a fun day in the sun. The annual Durban Picnic Day event will have South African acts like Cassper Nyovet and Black Motion performing. The cost for the event ranges between R200 and R1000.
4. All White Sunday
For those who choose to enjoy after dark Easter activities, the All White Sunday event is right up their alley. The event will have various artists performing is free as long as you don't bring along your own cooler box. The charge per cooler os R100.
