DURBAN - Regent Business School has launched South Africa's first Postgraduate Diploma in Islamic Finance and Banking on the back of the increasing demand for Islamic banking professionals. 

The qualification is one of three new one-year courses that have been introduced by the business school to create a powerful group of professionals with specialised skills on the continent. 

Besides the Postgraduate Diploma in Islamic Finance and Banking, the other courses are the Higher Certificate in Supply Chain Management and the Postgraduate Diploma in Project Management. 

The courses offer on-site or distance learning options to those who are interested in the course

Below are the costs for the different courses: 

Postgraduate Diploma in Islamic Finance and Banking – R35000
Postgraduate Diploma in Project Management – R35000
Higher Certificate in Supply Chain Management – R18500

Dr Ahmed Shaikh, the Managing Director of Regent Business School said, " The three new additions to our programme stable solidify RBS's drive to produce career professionals who are geared towards making an impactful change among various sectors in Africa".

The Regent Business School is a member of the Honoris United Universities and they introduced their new programme offerings after comprehensive market research into the skills gap in South Africa and Africa as a whole. 

According to Dr Shaikh, each programme is aimed at ensuring that the employability and skills agenda is addressed at an institutional level.

Students that complete the Postgraduate Diploma in Islamic Finance and Banking will be equipped to make a meaningful contribution to the fast growing Islamic finance sector world wide. 

The programme is offered via the supported distance mode of delivery which allows students to regsiter from any region.
