FC Barcelona, first team to pass $1bn in revenue

DURBAN - FC Barcelona is the first team ever to surpass $1 billion in revenue according to Forbes. 

The Spanish team has earned $1,05 billion in revenue for the 2017-2018 fiscal year and had an operating income of $204 million. Barcelona had a net profit of $15 million. 

For the 2018-2019 season, Barcelona has a budgeted revenue of $1,05 billion and an operating income of $220 million.

Manchester United, the world's most valuable soccer team according to Forbes, had a recorded revenue of $794 million and an operating income of $238 million in the fiscal year ending June 2018. However, the English team had a net loss of $50 million. 

In comparison to their Spanish rival Real Madrid, Barcelona is bigger and more profitable. The Madrid based club for the 2017-2018 fiscal year had a revenue of $892 million and had an operating income of $175 million.
