INTERNATIONAL – Users will soon be able to get notifications when using Instagram through a browser on their pc.

This is according to a report by Android Police, stating that there is Chrome support for the feature.

The service will ask for permission first, and then notify you whenever there’s any activity on your accounts such as for as new followers, likes, or comments.

The functionality works across both desktop and mobile and has also come to Instagram Lite, the service’s alternative low-data, low-resource app.

In other news, - Instagram’s co-founders have quit six years after their photo-sharing app was bought by Facebook.

That raises the risk that Mark Zuckerberg’s social network takes a tighter grip, and erodes the perceived independence that helped make Instagram such a success, says Jen Saba.

Shares of Facebook Inc fell more than 2 percent in early trading on Tuesday after the two founders of photo-sharing app Instagram left the social networking giant under unexplained circumstances.
