CAPE TOWN – Apple officially announced the event details to what is expected to be focused on the iPad and Mac is set to take place on the 30th of October 2018.

The company teased users with the tagline for the event stating, ‘There’s more in the making’ as a teaser with an image of the apple logo in many different styles.

Apple is expected to show off two redesigned iPad Pro models, a new MacBook, and likely other updates to the Mac line.

The new iPad Pro is rumoured to have slim bezels and Face ID, expanding Apple’s your-face-is-your-passcode technology beyond the iPhone for the first time. It’s also been reported that this year’s iPad Pro will switch over from Lightning to USB-C and be available in 11- and 12.9-inch display sizes.

In August, Bloomberg reported that the laptop will have slimmer bezels than the Air and have a high-resolution Retina display. It’s expected to slot in beneath the 12-inch MacBook as the company’s new low-cost laptop option.

Bloomberg also reported that a new Mac Mini is in development and that Apple is aiming the upcoming desktop at power users, app developers, and customers who’ve used the Mini as a home theatre PC.

According to reports by 9to5Mac two versions of the iPad Pro could be introduced such as a new 11-inch size and a redesigned 12.9-inch size.

9to5Mac also stated that the company could possibly introduce a new Mac mini as it hasn't been touched in years.

Ming-Chi Kuo of TF International Securities iMac also stated earlier in the year that the Mac is due for an update, and the new hardware could feature include “significant display-performance upgrades”.

The rumour pre-dates MacBook Pro gaining True Tone display support, which adjusts the colour temperature based on ambient lighting. However,  it’s not clear if it only refers to True Tone on the iMac.
