San Francisco - Former al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden has suffered the ultimate online ignominy. He was the subject on Tuesday of a viral Facebook scam, in which users of the ubiquitous social networking site were urged to click on a link purportedly showing a video of his shooting, but which instead opened a gate to potential malware attacks.

The fast-spreading scam appears on users' Facebook page with the title “Osama EXECUTION video” and asks users to copy and paste a link into their web browsers.

The link automatically replicates itself to all the user's contacts. According to security experts on technology website ZDNet, the website targeted by the link does not contain any malware, but authors of the scam could change that. - Sapa-dpa
