DURBAN - Google Maps has added more features that will help you decide where to eat and drink no matter which part of the world you live in.

These new features will help you make quick choices and help you find the best spots the next time that you are going out with your friends or family.

Discover new things to do

The new Explorer tab will be the hub that will show you all the cool and interesting places that are nearby.

When you check out a new area using Google Maps you will be able to see various restaurants, events and activity options based on the area that you are looking at.

Some of the top trending lists like the Food List will show you the places that tastemakers are going out to visit and help you find new restaurants using information from local experts, algorithms, and publishers like The Infatuation.

The new features will also help you keep track of all the places that you visited so if you have visited five restaurants in a certain area you know that you have five more to go to.

Meet your match

By tapping on any food or drink venue your "match" will automatically pop up. This feature suggests to you how much you will like a restaurant based on factors like food and drink preferences and places that you have already visited.

Group planning just got much easier

When you need to organise a group meal or activity, the new feature from Google Maps will make organising it much easier.

To co-ordinate your plans all you have to do is long press on the places that you would like to go to. It will then be added to a shareable list that your friends and family can add to and vote on.

Once a decision has been reached, you can use Google Maps to book a reservation and find a ride.

Never miss a thing

The "For you" tab is the best way for you to stay on top of latest events that are happening in areas.

Y ou can select to follow neighbourhoods and dining spots that you want to try so you will always have an idea for your next outing.
