DURBAN - Instagram users can now book for appointments at restaurants or salons and pay for their booking by using Instagram's new payments feature.

This new feature allows a user to register a debit or credit card as a part of their profile. The user will then have to create a security pin then they can start buying things without having to exit the app, reports TechCrunch.

Some users can book appointments for restaurants or salons through a third-party integration with Resy, a dinner reservation app.

According to Instagram, users can expect to directly pay for things like movie tickets through the app.

This new payment feature looks to be a continuation of Instagram's plans from March last year. In March 2017, Instagram announced that they would give business profiles the option to allow users to book services.

When the announcement was made in 2017, Instagram said that they would roll out the feature later in the year.

At the recent Facebook developers conference F8, Marak Zuckerberg announced that the app will be getting new features.

Some of these features include video-calling, AR filters and a new Explorer page.

The app just recently allowed their users to download the data that they have on them. Users of Instagram can download their data from Instagram through the app's privacy settings.
