Johannesburg - In the same week that Global Entrepreneurship Congress 2017 (GEC
2017) was held on the African continent for the first time earlier
this month (in Sandton, South Africa), the team at AfricanTechRoundup.com
recorded its 100th podcast episode in front of a live audience at Rand Merchant
Investment's fintech accelerator, Alpha Code.
According to data compiled by Disrupt Africa, African
tech startups raised funding in excess of $129 million in 2016, with the number
of startups securing funding increasing by 16.8 percent relative to 2015.
Fittingly, Andile Masuku's invited panellists
at the State of the Startup live event
were tasked with interrogating this encouraging trend in startup development on
the continent by lifting the curtain on some of the realities of launching,
growing and investing in tech startups in Africa.
Listen in to hear a lively panel discussion
featuring Indresen Chetty (MD: TRACE Mobile), Dominique Collett (Senior Investment Executive: RMI & Alpha Code), Ben White (Founder and CEO: VC4Africa) and Daniel Rubenstein (Co-founder: My Treasury).
