Cologne - A survey shows growing numbers of Germans are finding marriage partners through the internet.
According to the survey's findings, a sixth of all marriages in Germany this year had their origins online.
The survey was conducted by dating agency Singleboersen-Vergleich.de and over 800 civil registrars took part. Its figures are based on what the registrars from the betrothed during pre-wedding consultations.
Henning Wiechers, who conducted the survey, says the figures may not show the true extent of how many relationships begin online.
“Many couples want to maintain the image of romantic love and don't tell the registrars they only got to know each other through the marriage mart,” he says. - Sapa-dpa
