CAPE TOWN – Spotify is officially releasing its Apple Watch app today after testing it earlier this month.

"We’re constantly on the go—whether bouncing between the gym, work, school, errands, or just chilling—and our smartwatches are the tool to help keep us up to speed. Today, Spotify is introducing a new app for the Apple Watch, giving you the ability to seamlessly access and control your favourite music and podcasts without missing a beat", said Spotify in a statement.

Users have the ability to play music on the Apple Watch or control how music is played to compatible Spotify Connect devices.

It also allows Apple Watch owners to go for a run with just Bluetooth headphones and leave their iPhone at home.

However, it does not allow users to stream songs directly to the Apple Watch via a phone or LTE on the watch and it doesn’t allow users to sync songs for offline playback yet.
