London - Staring at a smartphone screen can be enough to make our eyes go square. But a new free app could have the opposite effect — and enable you to ditch your reading glasses.

GlassesOff uses a series of patterns to create 15-minute exercises. If done three times a week, its makers say you may no longer need reading glasses after 12 weeks.

The app strengthens connections in the brain that help you see better, such as recognising letters while you are reading. This allows the brain to compensate for blurredvision.

Up to now, the only alternative to wearing reading glasses was laser eye surgery. - Daily Mail
