CAPE TOWN – The JET8 Foundation in partnership with Mzansi Digital Republic Trust today announced the launch of ICECAM, an app focused on supporting brand and social influence of the youth in South Africa.
ICECAM allows its users to share branded selfies and videos while earning from their social influence.
For every in-app like, comment, and share, users earn JETS, which can be used to redeem products online or over-the-counter across more than 2 500 retail stores in South Africa, including Shoprite and Checkers.
If users also cross-post onto external social media networks, they can get even more rewards.
“With ICECAM, anyone with a smartphone can share content related to brands in the morning and purchase a loaf of bread, a cold drink, or even airtime in the afternoon,” said JET8 South Africa Director of Growth and Development, Gerjo Hoffman.
“Now, anyone and everyone with a smartphone can become a paid influencer.”
ICECAM was additionally built to support I.C.E Media’s community building efforts, including an inter-school talent competition titled Diamonds in the Rough.
Tickets for the competition will be available exclusively on ICECAM. I.C.E. Media will additionally launch school tours and roadshows to drive app adoption amongst youth, targeting over 30 schools with a total community of over 29,000 households.
Mzansi Digital Republic Trust CEO, Aubrey Botha said: “ICECAM is the evolution of marketing and can position brands favourably to communities all over South Africa by turning anyone into a brand ambassador"
"By partnering with our Caring Brands campaign on ICECAM, companies are empowered to use marketing budgets to derive social impact
and brand consciousness, and in doing so, empower future markets.”
ICECAM is now available to download from the Google Play Store, with iOS compatibility to follow in the coming weeks.
