CAPE TOWN – Microsoft announced that is has stopped distributing its latest Windows 10 October 2018 Update. 

“We have paused the rollout of the Windows 10 October 2018 Update (version 1809) for all users as we investigate isolated reports of users missing some files after updating,” said Microsoft on its support site for Windows Update.

This comes after users started reporting an issue found on the update via Reddit, Microsoft’s own support site and other forums.

The main issue that was found is that once users got the Windows 10 October 2018 Update, it had deleted their documents, photos, or even entire user profiles.

Microsoft is currently investigating the reports but some users have discovered a temporary fix for the issue, it’s not clear why it is happening.

Microsoft is now recommending that affected users contact the company directly, and if you’ve manually downloaded the October update then “please don’t install it and wait until new media is available.”

Other complaints include: 

1. The Microsoft Edge browser and other store apps have been unable to connect to the internet after the October 2018 Update and 

2. The update has blocked certain PC's due conflict with the intel driver 

"Windows® 10 October 2018 Update update may be blocked due to issues are seen with Intel® Display Audio Driver versions through This may result in excessive processor demand and reduced battery life. A fix for these issues is already included in Intel® Display Audio Driver version," Intel said in a blog post.
