DURBAN - Lawyer Laura Wasser has created a service that allows couples to uncouple cheaply and easily.

Wasser, who counts many Hollywood celebrities as her clients, wanted to create a resource that will allow couples to divorce.

Wasser said "even though divorce is the end of one part of a relationship and it's sad, the legal part of it shouldn't be difficult".

That is where her divorce service called "It's Over Easy" comes in.

After months of beta testing the site got its official launch on last week.

Other sites offer the required forms, Wasser's service goes the extra mile by assisting couples navigate them using artificial intelligence and real life experts.

The website also offers everything from video explanations of tricky legal concepts to advice for parents on how to co-parent as well as where to get the best spray tan before getting back into the dating pool.

Wasser hopes that the site will help take away some of the stigma that comes with splitting up.

She said "It’s taboo. Nobody wants to talk about it. There is no question that it’s not fun. However, if you are going through it, I don’t want it to be regarded as a failure or a nightmare. It's an evolution of the way your family functions".

This innovative entrepreneur added that people are comfortable doing everything from banking online to dating so her service is a logical way to fill that need.

Wasser said that it is a huge time saver, "we never ask you a question twice". "If you type in your name once, then every form will auto-populate your name".

This service is also cheaper than paying an attorney hundreds of rands per hour. According to Wasser the average divorce in America costs about $20 000 (R240 400).

A user named Jonathan utilised  "It's So Easy" to split from his wife after two decades of marriage.

Jonathan said "I don’t have that in savings, or a rich family member who’s going to pay that".

In addition to the court fees which are different for each state the basic package form Wasser's site costs about $750 (R9015).

The pro level costs $1500 (R18030) which includes a 30 minute conversation with a family law consultant, the premium service cost $2500 (R30050) which covers both spouses and includes a consultation with an expert for 90 minutes.

The pro and premium packages also include access to interactive calendars, support calculators and a service that people can use to file their forms with the court.
