Tuition-free University opens new academic year in Joburg

CAPE TOWN - The President of University of the People (UoPeople), the world's first non-profit, tuition-free, accredited American online university will be officially commemorating the opening of the academic year in Johannesburg on 7 September 2017. 

The tuition-free University was founded by entrepreneur Shai Reshef in 2009. 

UoPeople is accredited by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC), which is approved by the U.S. Department of Education as a “nationally recognised accrediting agency” and is also recognised by the CHEA.

The California-based university realises the direction of modern education by adopting distance learning with it's no campus or office outlook.  "University doesn't have to be a debt sentence" is UoPeople's mantra by enabling students from all walks of life to access free education. 

400 South African students have been enrolled at UoPeople and these numbers increase by the day. President of the University, Reshef will be personally visiting South Africa and the South African students enrolled at his university.

UoPeople has partnered with some of the top American universities such as Yale, University of California, New York University and Berkeley to ensure that their graduates receive job placement assistance and exposure.
