CAPE TOWN - The public has shown an element of no confidence on the newly appointed Minister of Energy, David Mahlobo, taking the office from the Mmamoloko Kubayi.

This comes after president Zuma this morning has announced his second cabinet reshuffle in seven months, and axing the Higher Education and Training Minister, Blade Nzimande.

The appointment of Mahlobo as the head of the energy ministry - former state security minister, will strengthen the speculation that Zuma wants to see the nuclear deal sealed before his presidential tenure ends, The New York Times reported.

Cosatu says it has noted the president's cabinet reshuffle and will seek to meet with the new minsters as soon as possible, to discuss how they can work with them to implement the policies of the ANC’s 2007 Polokwane Conference and its 2009 Election Manifesto, as speedily and effectively as possible.

The South African Communist Party is of the view that the only motive behind the cabinet reshuffling was to remove Blade Nzimande. SaveSA feels that David Mahlobo has been appointed Energy Minister to ensure the Russian nuclear deal is put to bed before the President is removed from office

Here is what people and industry role players had to say on Mahlobo's appointment:

Malobo new energy minister could be a nail in the coffin for IPP contracts...how to destroy an Industry😡
