Junior South African gold mining company Village Main Reef said on Friday it might cut up to 960 jobs at its Blyvoor mine.

Workers at Blyvoor went on an illegal 3-week strike that ended in October, part of a wave of wildcat action in the gold and platinum mines.

Analysts have said they expect mining companies to cut jobs in part because of lost profits and production from the strikes. - Reuters
