Cape Town - A head-on collision nearly claimed the lives of three people in Atlantis on Monday morning.
"Four people sustained injuries when two vehicles collided with each other on Old Mamre road in Atlantis this morning," ER24 spokesperson Werner Vermaak said.
"At approximately 05:30am, paramedics from ER24, Life Healthcare and Metro Rescue Services arrived on the scene where they found three people trapped in the vehicles.

"The rescuers had to use specialised equipment to free them from the wreckage. One person was in a serious condition and rushed to Groote Schuur Hospital. The remainder of the patients were treated on the scene and later transported to a nearby hospital.
"The exact circumstances surrounding the head on collision is not yet known. Local authorities attended the scene," Vermaak said.
