FORMER South African Idols winner Jason Hartman will perform at the royal wedding celebration of Prince Albert and South African Charlene Wittstock in July.

Hartman, who was the 2009 Idols winner, is to leave on Tuesday.

He will be travelling for six weeks, conducting radio interviews, performing at gigs on yachts and playing at other venues, including an exclusive concert at the Monte Carlo Monaco Grand Prix.

His tour will end with a performance at a gala ceremony at the royal wedding.

The wedding was initially to be held on July 8 and 9, but was changed to July 2 and 3 because of an International Olympic Committee meeting.

Hartman is to open for popular band the Eagles.

Hartman was introduced to Wittstock years ago by her swimming coach and said they had remained good friends.

Last night Hartman said he felt “absolutely excited and blessed” to be going to Monaco.

He planned to take his entire studio and band with him, and said he had been working on new material for the special occasion.
