Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (Zeitz MOCAA) and UWC are collaborating to offer the programme to citizens of any African country.

Cape Town - The Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (Zeitz MOCAA) and UWC are launching an exciting year-long fellowship programme to educate a new generation of art and museum professionals in Africa.

The Fellowship Programme aims to contribute towards a redefinition of curatorial practice as well as art history scholarship on contemporary art discourse from the continent.

It also seeks to foster knowledge production around curatorial practice, arts administration and heritage management.

“This initiative speaks to the museum’s vision to become a contemporary art museum that represents our times, one that engages society at large and one that participates and leads global discourse on pertinent issues,” said Zeitz MOCAA executive director and chief curator, Koyo Kouoh.

Fellows will enrol in courses at the UWC’s History Department and Centre for Humanities Research while obtaining work experience at the museum’s Curatorial, Collection Management, Art Education and Institutional Advancement departments.

Fellows will be accredited with a BA Honours degree upon completion of the programme, and is open to citizens of any African country. The programme will cover the cost of tuition, accommodation, basic health insurance and a monthly stipend. Travel and visa costs are excluded.

Five fellows will be selected with the programme to commence in February 2022. Applications will close on September 30. For more information and to apply, visit the Zeitz MOCAA website.
