Cape Town - A man got his hand caught in a roller press in a late Sunday night accident at a company in Epping Industria in Cape Town, ER24 said.

"A man, believed to be in his 20s, was left seriously injured late last night when his hand got caught in a roller press at a company in Epping Industria in the Western Cape," ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said.

"ER24 paramedics, along with Metro, Fire services and Life Healthcare, arrived on the scene at 23h10 and were lead to the patient. Upon closer inspection, paramedics found that the man's hand had become trapped inside a roller press machine.

"Rescue services were unable to dismantle the machine and later had to use specialised rescue tools to free the man’s arm from the machine. Once freed, paramedics found that the man had sustained numerous crush injuries.

"The man was treated for his injuries and was provided with pain-relief medication before he was transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment," Meiring said.
