Man critical after being dragged under Cape train

Cape Town - A man was left critically injured after being dragged under a train on Monday morning. 

The incident is being investigated. It took place at one of Cape Town's busiest rail intersections, Salt River Station.

"A man, believed to be in his 30s, was left critically injured this morning when he was pulled beneath a train at the Salt River Train Station in Salt River in the Western Cape," ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said. 

"ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene to find Life Healthcare, Metro Rescue and Provincial EMS already in attendance.

"Upon closer inspection, paramedics found the man lying next to the tracks. Assessment showed that the man had sustained a significant head injury and was in a critical condition.

"The man was treated for his injuries and was provided with advanced life support interventions before he was transported to Groote Schuur Hospital for urgent treatment.

"Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations," he said.
