Cape Town - A man, believed to be in his 60s, was left seriously injured on Thursday when he lost control of his vehicle causing it to crash in an underground parking lot at a mall in Tokai, Western Cape.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at 11h40 to find the vehicle against a small wall in the parking area. The man was found lying next to his vehicle.

Paramedics assessed the man and found that he had sustained serious injuries to his waist and leg, leaving him in a serious condition.

The man was treated for his injuries and provided with pain-relief medication before he was transported to Groote Schuur Hospital for further care.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigation.

Groote Schuur Hospital spokesperson Alaric Jacobs confirmed that the man had made it to the hospital, and that he was in a stable condition in the Orthopaedic Ward following the crash.
