Cape Town - Despite trial matric examinations still under way, preparation for the final National Senior Certificate exams, to be written by 66 192 candidates in the province, is beginning to take centre stage.

The Western Cape Education MEC Debbie Schäfer said: “With days to go until the start of the 2018 NSC examinations, it is important for all our candidates to make use of the resources available to them. For those of you who are studying under difficult circumstances, please use schools and libraries in your communities as quiet, safe and secure areas to study.

“Once (trials are) completed, our district officials will work with their schools to examine the results and determine which schools need additional support during the final stages of the matric school year.”

The final computer applications technology practical will take place on October 15, with written exams starting on October 22.

Lucky Ditaunyane, the spokesperson for education and training quality assurer Umalusi, said the organisation’s preparedness report for the finals would be released once trials were completed. All exam papers had been prepared.
