Cape Town - The MyCiTi wildcat bus strike has entered its third day, forcing many commuters to find alternative transport.

Protesters on Wednesday morning blocked Hertzog Boulevard in Cape Town's CBD. On Tuesday, talks between the City of Cape Town and the leaders of the striking drivers broke down.

Striking bus drivers are believed to have roped in members of the EFF, but the bus companies and the City of Cape Town refused to have the political party present in the labour dispute, leading to the talks being deadlocked.

Some striking workers have returend to work, but many services on MyCiTi routes remain suspended. Routes 101, 102, 103, 105, 114, 107, 110 and 215 are still affected, MyCiTi announced on Twitter.

Mayoral committee member for transport and urban development Brett Herron said: "There are reports from MyCiTi vehicle operators that several more routes are operating this morning. It appears that some drivers are returning to work. I hope to see the full service back up and running."
