Caught in a sea of trouble, AmaZulu have seen some light at the end of the tunnel by striking two successes at the weekend.

In Stellenbosch on Friday night, they ousted Newtons 2-0 to advance to the second round of the BobSave Superbowl. Coach Eddie Lewis, from Johannesburg, agreeing to coach them came as another morale booster.

Lewis, after initially giving the impression that he might turn down the struggling Usuthu's offer, is scheduled to arrive in Durban on Monday to conduct the club's relegation battle. He should stay until the season's end.

Caretaker coach Gavin Lane will remain in the technical department to help Lewis, according to team manager Alpha Mchunu.

"Lewis is an experienced coach and his presence in Durban will be a big boost for us," said Mchunu on Sunday.

"He will, no doubt, improve the team's tactical awareness and help in the general upliftment of the players's spirits. I don't think we could have hired a better coach for the position we're in."

Lewis, however, will have little time to get settled in; his new charges are scheduled to face Orlando Pirates on Wednesday night in the Castle Premiership.

As far as the Superbowl goes, the Usuthu next meet either Mother City or Budeli Real Vultures, who were scheduled to meet at the Green Point Stadium in Cape Town on Saturday. The game was called off due to travel problems faced by Vultures.

Other news from the Usuthu camp is that midfielder William "Naughty" Mokoena will be with Santos on loan until the end of the season.

The Cape side will also be given an option to make an outright purchase of the player, who was unsettled in Durban and had a few runs-in with management.

Santos are also said to be interested in transfer-listed Manning Rangers midfielder Solo Ndimande, but here they may face opposition from Ajax Cape Town.
