Founded in 2011, the mission of the race is to bring people together and make the world a happier, healthier place. The run aims to create an experience that’s more about the memories you make than your mile per minute.
The Color Run organiser and marketing manager for Sport Vendo, James Bell, said that only a handful of tickets are still available.
“At last count we were 85% sold out with tickets flying, so our advice is to get tickets now,” Bell said.
“We have changed it up and this year is the carnival theme, bringing in elements of Mardi Gras. For the first time ever we are giving everyone who finishes the run a medal.”
The Color Run organisers have also committed to leaving Cape Town cleaner than they found it.
The event will be minimising mess, litter and the need for water-based cleaning through PVC sheeting, large vacuum cleaners and volunteers on the day. Only non-potable water will be used for cleaning.
“We implemented drastic water-saving measures for our Cape Town and Stellies events last year with great success and are looking to ensure that this year’s event goes even further. The event will not add additional strain to the municipality’s water resources,” said the organisation.
The organisers will be collecting all the colourful race T-shirts after the event and giving them to the needy.
