Trevor Noah has a brand-new stand-up comedy show – and he’s bringing it home.
The show will focus on exploring how life has changed for the South African comedian after his big break as the host of American news talk programme The Daily Show.
The 32-year-old, who celebrates his birthday on Monday, took over from Jon Stewart in September 2015.
Noah announced the news with a special video message on Comedy Central’s social media site on Valentine’s Day.
He told his fans he was coming back home to do the show because he wanted to and not because he got kicked out of the US by new president Donald Trump.
He said there would be new jokes and special guests when he takes to the stage at the TicketPro Dome in August.
“This is a stand-up comedy on a scale never seen from a local comedian in this country and by far the biggest must-watch event of the year,” said Comedy Central Africa’s senior channel director Dillon Khan.
Noah has sold out every comedy tour he has done in South Africa since 2010.
Show producer Ryan Harduth said the organisers were pulling out all the stops for this one.
“From the production standpoint, we are going all out to create the best comedy experience the Dome has seen. We are incredibly excited to share this show with our audiences,” he said.
Harduth said local and international opening acts would be showcased to support Noah.
The show is on August 10 and 11. Tickets start from R300 and will go on sale on Monday.
