CAPE TOWN - Ten-year-old Siyavuya Mabhece, who recently published a book called Enough! Stop Bullying, says she wants to inspire people to stand up for themselves and live in their truths.

“Kids my age are always shy and can’t speak or share what is happening in their lives because of the environment we or they live in.

“I am always inspired by my mother and father.

“What my mother would always say is that I must inspire others and be myself in whatever the situation is.

“I have never been bullied but that does not mean I must sit down and watch them being bullied, which is my friends.

“The importance of being me is that I am raised by people who are able to stand up for themselves and everyone else.

“I want to do and direct movies in the near future.

“What I would tell my peers is that they must do whatever that aspire to become,” she said.

Her book teaches young people how to deal with bullying, and readers to identify bullying symptoms.

From Johannesburg, Siyavuya is a team leader at her school, the captain of the netball club and a motivational speaker.

Her mother, Ncebakazi Mabhece, has encouraged parents to be caring and open minded when it comes to the career choices of their children.

“Siya is very aware of the environment and she wants to know about everything.

“I am not surprised by her character because she is curious.

“The reason she wrote the book was because she herself was aware of the bullying from an early age.

“She is always that kind of person who is aware of the environment.

“What stuck into my mind was the fact she asked me about the bullying system at work and how the parents deal with it.

“Besides that was the fact she asked me about bullying in general and what it affects in the working environment,” said Mabhece.
