Cape Town - The City's Law Enforcement Social Housing Unit has cracked down on tenants who engage in unlawful activity in the City's rental stock units.
Earlier this week, an illegally built structure in Blagden Street in Retreat was dismantled by the tenant and the "problematic" inhabitants removed from the property.
According to Law Enforcement spokesperson Wayne Dyason, the structure was the scene of multiple arrests for illicit drug offences.
"(The dismantling of the structure) was much to the delight of surrounding residents who have been besieged by the anti-social behaviour of those living in the structure," said Dyason.
In Diep River on Friday, officers on patrol in the area received information of a reported stolen vehicle which led to the arrest of five suspects .
The vehicle, which was hijacked in Mowbray, had allegedly been used in a murder case in Grassy Park.
Meanwhile, in Radnor Street, Ravensmead, the City's Facilities Protection officers arrested a "suspicious" man who was found in possession of a Baretta pistol and 11 live rounds of ammunition.
