The prayers of disabled athlete Wellington Benade Boltmans, 17, and his family have been answered as they received a donation that will allow him to attend this year’s National Championships for the Physically Disabled in Port Elizabeth.

The Kinovi Montessori Klein Parys Preschool in Paarl has donated R3000 to the young man who now can focus on preparing for the athletics championships.

School director Mandy Allie said their school was part of a larger investment group that promoted a sense of community and co-operation.

“We did not intend for this to be very public and only wanted to help this young man. Benade is a pupil striving to be successful in spite of his circumstances, and that inspired us to help,” said Allie.

They hoped the contribution would allow the young athlete to do his province and family proud.

A relieved and emotional father, Derend Boltman, said his family could not thank the preschool enough.

“I want to thank them for their kindness and for helping my son get another opportunity to show off his talents. When you struggle to help your child nurture or showcase their talent, such people are God-sent,” he said.
