Focus on education

A stake for volunteer services

October is Volunteer Month at the Little Creek Spur in Main Road, Tokai, so take your family and support the National Sea Rescue Institute and the Volunteer Wildfire Services from 6pm to 8pm every Tuesday during October, starting tomorrow. There will be a colouring-in competition. On October 30 a fire truck will make an appearance and visitors may spray water from it’s hose. Call Meriel Bartlett at 082 994 7555.

Adopt a best friend

October is Pet Adoption Month. Adopt a pet from the Cape of Good Hope SPCA and Hill’s Pet Nutrition will give R100 to the organisation. Whether or not you adopt an animal, you may show your support by adding your signature and a message of encouragement to the Adoption Campaign Supporter Wall in the SPCA’s Animal Care Centre. Be one of the first to sign the wall on World Animal Day on Thursday between 12 noon and 3pm at the SPCA, corner of 1st Road and First Avenue, in Grassy Park or pop in any time during office hours throughout October. Visit the adoption website at www.lifesbettershared.co.za or call 021 700 4146/79/40 to find out more about the event.
