Anti-Gang Unit investigating murder after three people shot and killed

CAPE TOWN - The Anti-Gang Unit are probing triple murder after three people were shot and killed in Lotus River on Sunday night.

Another person, who fled the scene, was also left injured as a result of the shooting.

Police spokesperson Andrè Traut said: “Detectives attached to the Anti-Gang unit are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of three people who were shot and killed last night in Grassy Park.

“At around 8:50pm a 40-year-old female and two males aged 56 and 36 were shot and killed by unknown gunmen on the corners of Lake Road and 6th Avenue in Grassy Park. The suspects fled the scene and are yet to be arrested,” said Traut.

The shooting is alleged to be gang-related and comes after a 5-year-old girl, also from Lotus River, was shot and wounded in the face on Saturday.

According to reports, the girl is recovering in Red Cross Hospital after she sustained a gunshot wound on Saturday just after 2pm.
